York/Leeds based lo-fi ambient electro-pop artist Mayshe Mayshe elegantly stacks layers of vocal harmony, analogue keyboard, tuned percussion, pedal feedback, and occasionally hair-dryer noise over her skittering, organic beats to create the sonic bed for her brooding vocal hooks.
Claiming influences as diverse as Grimes, Thom Yorke, and Taylor Swift, and at times evoking Sylvan Esso, Burial, and Hot Chip. Mayshe Mayshe is currently touring to support the release of her enigmatic debut album, Cocoa Smoke, on Manchester’s Super Smash Hit Records.
James Ewan Tait
James Ewan Tait is an experimental singer-songwriter and guitarist born of Sheffield’s DIY music scene.
Noted by Now Then magazine for his “unmistakable croon”, “impressive vocal range”, and “deeply personal delivery”. Tait utilises numerous guitar amplifiers and an array of modulating stereo delays and effects to create a three-dimensional yet minimal sound, around which he weaves his soulful, off-kilter guitar lines. This was aptly demonstrated in the Lime Grove video premiered by For the Rabbits earlier this year.
“This remarkable songwriter is producing some uniquely enjoyable music. His recent EP, Everything, Loads, All the Time, Forever, is a rich journey condensed into four masterfully crafted songs.” – Pink Wafer
